Need laptop recommendations

I have never owned a laptop and I'm seriously considering replacing my laptop with one.

I literally do zero gaming. All this laptop will do is surf the web, facebook, and burn some cds.

This will be running squeeze server so it will likely be left plugged in and on all day every day.

I'm hoping for a 17 inch screen if possible and it has to be from newegg as I have some store credit there.

I like the idea of being able to turn off the touchpad due to the fact that I will likely be using a mouse 99% of the time.

I just don't know what the quality brands are and I want this thing to last awhile.

Unless you are going to be mobile, there's not much point in replacing a desktop with a laptop. Especially if you are running 24/7 - laptops really are not designed for that kind of use.
