Been out of the laptop world for quite a few years and had a friend come to me asking for a laptop recommendation. Looking for something under $1000, snappy and the ability to play SCII at a decent frame rate. Any suggestions would be useful. Thanks.

I'm highly considering this for myself.

You however dont really specify what your use will be for it. Does it need ot be portable AT ALL? This link above is to a 7.5lb anchor with an enormous screen and I doubt battery life is even 2hours.
 
HP Envy 14 or Acer 4820tg for i5-460m+ radeon 5650 combo.

HP if you want excellent Macbook pro-like build quality, an underclocked videocard, and 1 lb heavier for $1300.

Acer if you want more HP'esque build quality, a full speed 5650 + lighter package for $800.
