So the current laptop is dying (random restarts, getting harder and hard to boot into either Windows or linux). I've run a full battery of tets. The hard drive is fine, the RAM is fine, even re-flashed the BIOS to no effect. Whatever the problem is it's unfixable in all likelihood, and we're talking a 2006 laptop anyway.
Preferably $500 or under but I can push to $600 if it's a really good deal. Uses would be working, coding (linux environment), and movie-watching. Extended coding makes a larger keyboard a necessity. A blu-ray drive would be nice, but I can deal with with a DVD burner. I'm used to a 15.4" screen, and would like to keep it around that, although I might be willing to downgrade to 14" if the other features are good enough. Weight is not much of a concern, as my laptop is usually carried in a backpack. Gaming needs are nonexistant (Desktop covers that).
