I'm trying to help my friend buy a laptop. Unfortunately, while I know a fair amout about buying desktops, I really don't know what to look for when buying a laptop.
I had initially recommended to her that she buy a Dell, but after looking at what Compaq, HP, etc charge for comparable models, Dell seems to cost a lot more. Is there a good reason for that? i.e. what do you get with the Dell that makes it cost more? Tech support? Better quality of parts? Nothing?
What brand laptops are ok to purchase and which ones should be avoided?
Should she be looking at a Centrino CPU or regular CPU? Or does it not matter?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
