Well,
I am currently a Apple Powerbook User (see setup below) and now looking to go back to the PC realm. When I receive my money back for a really bad transaction that happened last year (see this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=45&threadid=1789827&enterthread=y ) I am looking again towards a PC laptop when I sell off my Powerbook.
Yesterday, I was shoping around with my SO and we found some deals at OfficeDepot (B&M) ..
Compaq Presario V5015US 15.4" widescreen notebook:
You can see the specs here:
http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=572290&&An=browse
It was advertised as $799.99 after $150 HP rebate and $30 OD rebate. In addition to that, I put it on the OfficeDepot Advantage card to get $50 back in May. After tax and all that's said and done, It'll be about $812 and change.
Not bad, but I am wondering ... can I do better?
I haven't opened the laptop from the box yet, so this is definately still an option.
Here is what I think of the laptop
The Plus(+)
- Screen size and brightness
- AMD Turion 64
- 1GB of RAM
- 60GB harddrive
- DVD+-RW with DL
- Wifi
- 6 lbs or less is fine for my back
The Cons(-)
- Integrated Video..
- Questionable battery life? (2+ hours at most)
Well, I'm currently looking at a laptop with these specs, but not breaking the bank at all. I do a lot of photography work and playing video games would also be nice, but I really seldom do. Battery life of 3+ hours would be nice. Would like to get it under $1300 or so... Any ideas whats good and out there?
Thanks
Wilson
