Need internet service and was wondering how much bandwith / speed is needed

I'm living at home with my parents and we are having to move a few miles away where there is no dsl service but wireless. We're currently splitting a 1.5mb connection for about $45 amonth. Fastest residential wireless service we can get is 768kbs for $70 or business residential where 1mb download cost $100 and 1.5mb cost $150.

I was just wondering how much bandwith / speed two computers could use. We're at home all day surfing the internet, listening to music, watching videos, facebook, etc.

We're trying to decide if 768kbs is too slow to split between two computers or if we should get something faster but get raped with the price increase. There is really no other options besides getting mobile wireless service but we're concerned we would go over the download limit pretty quick.

What's your opinion?

You should be fine with 768 for just general internet like you described. It won't be blazing fast for large downloads. Companies with 50 computers use lines that size.

cant you get a 3g or 4g modem from sprint verizon etc? i assume you afre thinking about getting something like hughesnet internet (terriblle). check if there are small local isp in your area at broadbandreports.com type in ur zip and it lets u kno what others are using.

I think 768Kbit/sec is a bit slow for two computers, if they do video streaming at the same time. It's barely enough for a single computer to do video streaming.

For just web browsing and audio, that's more than enough for two computers.

We could get two modems from Verizon but we're worried that we might go over the monthly download limit which is 5gb or 10gb. We don't know how much we currently use and don't want to be stuck in a contract when we move again. We're probably going to have to pay the price to get what we want.

QTF, if one computer starts to stream YouTube (unless it is throttled), will consume the entire bandwidth pipe. So unless you do some serious QoS, you could end running out of bandwidth when you want to do something like play video games or whatever.
