I've got a TI Extensa 390 series (model 393C) with a bad CD-ROM drive. I received a replacement drive today, but I see no release on the notebook for removing the existing CD-ROM drive so that I can replace the unit. Can anybody tell me how to do this or point me to instructions or a manual on the web? I've done some Googling for the info with no luck. If anybody is familiar with this notebook and can help, I'd REALLY appreciate it.
Thanks

There are no service guides for me to reference, so I will assume that you need to remove the cover to get to the drive. Some current laptops are designed so that only a screw or two under the keyboard and sometimes on underneath the drive are all that are needed to release the drive. Most likely you will need to remove the cover assembly to get to the drive. Take out all the screw from the bottom and then the ones from underneath the keyboard and LCD hinges, disconnect cables and remove the cover.
