Need instruction on burning AVI files to DVD Disc as DVD Playable Format

How would I go about taking a bunch of avi files and burning them onto a dvd disc as a dvd readable disc, as in playable in a dvd player as a dvd disc. ?
 
In order for playback on desktop DVD player, those AVI files will need to be converted into MPEG2 files.

Check out Doom9.org or Videohelp.com for guides on converting between the various formats..

I think TMPGenc will do the conversion, and I think they have a free trial version that can be downloaded from their site.

thanks for the help. No I am nowhere near beating it 🙂 I am stuck at the reach hourglass chamber(past) I can't seem to figure out which way to go, I am going in circles 🙁 I've gotten past the part where you are running from that guy with the tentacles, and am now thoroughly confused 🙂
