Need input on a case mod idea

I thought it'd be cool to make a PC case mod based on KITT from Knight Rider. The other mods I've seen do this simply have the red scanner light going back and forth on the front of the case. I want to take that a step further and make the "voice module" section (hopefully sound sensitive), and integrate that in the front of the case. When I say "Voice module" I refer to those three lines of red LED's that move up and down when KITT spoke, plus the round lights around it that said "P1, P2, L1"...etc.

Anyone know where I could pick something like this up, or at least a kit with instructions on how to make it?

I'm sure the LED display or something similar can be picked up at www.radioshack.com but as for directions on how to implement it, I'm 😕 Fritzo

Nah, one of my cases is aluminum with a clear window & small blue glow courtesy of MacBaine. I just think what you're talking about is quite overkill.
