For example, I have my D drive (15 gigs) full of mp3s and I need to back them up completely. Instead of selecting folders by folders and calculating space, etc, can't I just tell a program to burn the D drive and keep placing cd after cd into the burner?

I have Nero, and I just tried out the HD backup and wasted about 3 cds in the process. I noticed that these "backups" are mainly for backing up OS or partitions. My question here refers to just backing up many many files, not the drive itself. So can Nero still do this, or are there better programs out there that I should look into? Please respond, I wanna do this today.

drive image will backup an entire drive and just keep asking you for CDs, but as far as restoring it goes, it may not be what you want.

i have no idea what you guys are talking about, give me the actual product name, i cant even find it in download.com

how about NORTON GHOST?

I think you would be better off just taking a little time, using a program like nero and burning the mp3's onto cd's in data(mp3)format instead of cdda. It shouldn't take that long. Then you can but a mp3 player and not only have backups but have all your music on cds that you can listen too, instead of just having image files laying around. Buy an Aiwa portable mp3 player with the car kit and you can have you music with you all the time. The initial burning will take a little longer(depending on your burn speed, etc)but like I said, you won't just have a bunch of image files, you'll have you music available to listen to.

chasm22: sounds like an excellent idea if I had the time to organize 15 gigs of mp3s and burn them individually, and also if I had a nice mp3 player car kit. Unfortunately i dont and I just need to burn these mp3s off so I can format my hard drive and start fresh with a new OS. thanks NeoMadHatter, i will look into this. So far I installed Ghost and i dont think its what I needed.
