Need info on wireless internet and international use

hey all,

My brother is being shipped out to iraq and asked me about wireless internet capability for use on his laptop once he's over there.

Do any mobile wireless internet carriers (Verizon, Sprint, etc) have plans that will work overseas?

evdo prob not.. i have tmobile and att cards.. they're pretty pricy to use over there... my company avg 15k a month on mobile data bills because no one wants to buy a sim over there...

how long will he be there ? he might be better off buying the wireless cards there..

he'll be over there for about 8 months or so.

I'll let him know that wireless products are available over there.

Would you happen to know how the service compares in Iraq? How about rates?

To tell you the truth I don't think you will find much, His best bet is using whatever the base has. They normally have some form of wifi available.
