Ok, I am not a newbie to computers at all but I am a little new to the whole AMD thing. I am getting a 1.4 ghz thunderbird along with 512mb ddr to go on my epox 8k7a all in the mail soon and was wondering what I need to do to get everything working well. I've put together plenty of Intel computers so I know the basics but I don't know about the whole 4in1 via drivers business and stuff. What do I need to download and do to be prepared for this new experience?

just download all the newest drivers for your individual components. you dont need to download the 4in1's YET (i didnt because they caused me problems), so dont worry about that. just download all the latest drivers for your components, and after thats all done, see if you have any problems. if you do, try and narrow it down to which component caused it, post back here, and you should be told how to fix it.

Well since I won't be able to backup all my files until this weekend I am just going to change this stuff and put my old stuff on it. So win2k will already be installed and have to install all the necesary files. I am aware of the problems presented by this but that's all I really can do until I can upload my files into another's computer to format my comp.

i recommend, before you put all your personal files on the computer, that you download updated drivers and backup your hard drive. that way, if you ever have a serious computer problem and you have to start from scratch again, you have a backup that you can use without having to download all those drivers again.
