I posted this in the video forums and had no help, so I will post in OT and see if anybody can help me out.
I am planning on buying a Gigabyte GV-N66T128D 6600GT agp videocard to replace my ageing Gigabyte RV-9700PRO, and I would like to find out if anybody has had any issues with the AGP versions of the 6600GT? I have test the leadtek cards and have found them to be pretty dodgy with cheaper PSU's, has anybody tryed the gigabyte card yet?
I havent had a chance to test the leadtek cards with a ANTEC psu yet so I don't know if it will work in my system.

my specs are

Athlon XP 3000+ Barton
GA-7N400PRO
1GB DDR400
4 X Western Digital WD1200JB 120gb harddisks
liteon 16x DVDROM
Pioneer A08 DVDRW
ANTEC SMARTBLUE 350W PSU

does anybody think that my PSU will die if i add the GF6600GT? currently my system runs really nice and never gives any problems and has done so for 2 years.

This is going to sound smart-ass, and I don't mean it that way, but I'd see if you could find the power usage of those individual components, add them together, then multiply by 1.25.

I would have no idea on the invididual power usage of each compenent, thats why i asked, there are plenty of technical minded people in AT forums that could help

Judging by the amount of hard drives, and the high powered video card, I'd get AT LEAST a 430W Antec TruPower. Maybe the 550(?)W version to be safe.

I was thinking of upgrading to a 480w trueblue, but just wanted to find out if anybody knew the PSU requirements for the Gigabyte 6600GT

I don't know the exact numbers but NeoSeeker's SLI test setup used a 530W OCZ Modstream PSU, so I would assume that the 480W or higher Antec would suffice for a single video card system.

thats what i wa about to say...with all those hdds i would go for more...you can always pick up the card and if you have instability only when using it, disconnect some of the extra power suckers for some testing...if its stable then get a new psu

I got 341 watts used up according to that website with what i got now and 391 watts with a 6800, so i think that i might need a PSU upgrade..DOH!
