Need info on digital imaging for presentation.

I have to give a lecture on digital photography and imaging to a bunch of health professionals.

They will be taking pictures through a microscope and of small objects - 1 cm to 50 cm in size.

These people often know NOTHING about imaging, much less digital imaging. Where is a good site with some very good super basic info, even with stuff like just the concepts of image compression, dpi, etc.

It'd be nice to have some pre-organized info available so I don't have to re-invent the wheel for my presentation.

Why are you giving a lecture on a topic that you have no knowledge of? Sounds a little strange.

I have moderate knowledge of it, but I'd like to avoid starting from scratch for my lecture. If there is a site with a lot of this presented already in an organized fashion, it would save me a LOT of preparation time.
