Need info on Abu Dhabi

All I know is that it is a very modern city, along with Dubai, has lot's of cool sh1t to do and see, and has no income tax.

I need to know what the cost of living is like. I have found info online regarding apartments going for anywhere from $1,500 - $5,000 a month. Has anyone here visited or lived there? If so, I'd like to know what sort of salary is required to get by. I don't cook so eating out every day and every meal will be a given.

I visited there years ago when I was younger. cool city and very modern. but you wont see any hot chicks walking around in bikinis

You put that song from Garfield and Friends in my head and I dont know the lyrics and Google cant find them so now I am mad at you. (It's something like "Abu Dhabi live for today") :|

I received an offering to go in on a start up consulting company. I may negotiate to get part of it as I have my own gig here, but it all depends on the situation over there. I really want to get out of here so I'm willing to take a huge initial cut in pay to do this, but I really need to know what the cost of living situation is as I have to work the deal out before I leave.

Yeah, this place is pretty damn useless. No, I didn't just figure that out.

Dude, seriously you should go. Abu Dhabi is the dopeness for grappling. They have this like uber leet competition where its the best of the best verse one another. It's like the olympics for grappling. I would definitely go there. If you don't want to go and can find a way for me to go in place of you, I'll definitely do it.

No joke.

No booze, no gambling, no porn...endless square miles of sand? Gah, I'd say no.

Rrrrrrriiiiiiight.

You do know that the U.A.E. is one of the most westernized countries in the Middle East. If you want to indulge in any of those activities, you can find them without a problem.

If I were you I would go (assuming the pay is reasonable) just to do something that can be considered wild and different.

Abu Dhabhi is alright.. I personally like Dubai better.. It's much more happening. My sister moved to Abu Dhabhi from the US and didnt like it too much either.. I think for a single person, a salary of 6000 dhs per month should suffice. that usually the entry level salary so not sure what you'd get paid.

$1,500 - $5,000 a mont

Are you sure those figures are in dollars coz that seems very expensive to me if its in dollars? I pay 70,000 dhs per year for a three bedroom apartment on Dubai-Abu Dhabhi highway ( My rents a little on the higher side )... The range which you mentioned makes sense in Dirhams though..

When we were there in 1978, the chick dancer had to wear a flesh colored body suit that went from neck to toe. Thingsa must have loosened up since then.

Can't really help you on Abu Dhabi, as I've never been there.

Can anyone tell me about Dubai? I have family there that have been pretty much begging my brothers and I to visit them there. What I'm looking for possibly is things to do, shopping, eating etc. Cost would work also.

So you pay about $1,500/month for a 3 bdrm in a nice neighborhood? That's much better than what I was thinking!

What would a 1 bdrm go for? 2 bdrm?

My family and I lived there for several years, there are plenty of things to do and to see. PM me if you need more details but I think you'd enjoy your time there.

wtf, you have the perfect oppotunity to go and see for yourself. are you some sort of tool man. just go and have a great time and surprise yourself. and trust me, there are very few places in this world that are absolutely miserable...you can pretty much have a blast whereever you go as long as you go with an open mind.
