I bidded on a retail version of windows me on e bay, this was my 1st time I ever bidded on e bay. I found it strange how people can sell more than one retail copy of software for less than the store price & because they stated it's unused, unopened & still sealed in plastic. I took a chance on buying windows me, & when I got it today, it was sealed, but not like the thin plastic seals you would find in the store, it looked like it had been resealed with one of those cheap products that reseals things they sell on tv on a low budget comercial. The plastic has holes on the side, the jewel case didn't have any red stickers of licence agreement like the OEM versions, the cd was floating inside the jewel & when I took it out, I saw scratches on the bottom & FINGER prints, the boot disk was out of the plastic bag which had been open & there is no licence agreement forms. Right now I'm thinking I'm just missing the licence agreement forms, can't any of you that brought a store copy tell me if that's all I'm missing? I have always gotten OEM versions of windows with full system orders, but this is the 1st retail copy I brought since building my own system. I only have the cd with scratches, along with a scratced jewel case, a user manual in good but not great condition, & boot disk. The seller's name is aces on e bay, he has sold over 2700 items & has 12 negative & 27 neutral, I didn't think 12 negatives out of 2700 items sold would be bad but someone else told me that it is considering he also has 27 neutrals, this person seems to be selling lots of computer products only & the software all claim to be retail & unopened in plasitic. This could be one of those refurb stores that sells on e bay, that's why I shouldn't have never taken a chance bidding on e bay & never will again. Don't buy from this seller of your want a retail product, go to the store & just pay $40 more & you will be HAPPIER. When I openned this & saw how it was, I said FUK! in my mind & BIT on my lip so hard & LONG that I have big gums now just like bubba!

Yeah, anyone who's sellng tons of stuff at conviently low prices has an "ace" up their sleave. Get the pun? Get it? Sorry you had a bad experience, at least it wasn't like an expensive item like a fast CPU or something.

If it is clearly not as stated in the description and y'all ain't happy then return it. But, if you care about having title to a valid license and you got one then don't worry about it. I don't see that a license would matter much to a home user unless maybe there is free telephone support that requires it but in any case that is what you really purchased not the packaging of bits.

If you're that concerned you can email piracy@microsoft.com and then re-spend whatever you paid plus $40 more for a store copy. Or you could just bite your lip again and use it.

Since this is e bay, I know it can't return the item as easily as if i brought it from the store, the seller could just ignore all my requests for a return or is there something else i can do besides given a negative feedback? I know some sellers don't care about negative feedbacks when they have 12 already. I tried the cd out & it's fine, even with those scratches on the bottom of it. The main reason I want to return this product is because I know it has been used by who knows how many other people & one of them could have used the registration forms that's why it's missing, & you can tell someone read the whole users manual because the pages looks wrinkled like when you breath on it for awhile.

Some stores do re-seal returned software too. I don't really understand what the big deal is if you think its a legit microshaft-produced copy. Once you install it you'll forget all about it soon. Isn't registration electronic these days? And if you hold the original CD, box, and manual, Microcrap can't bust you for piracy or anything. If someone else did register that code they will know who it was. I don't think I've ever registered software in my life...do you really want more junk mail, telemarketers, and spam?

If this is really important to you then don't buy software on egay
