If someone out there has a USB Palm cradle (or other PDA cradle, probably) running under Linux, could you check something out for me?
I'm having problems with a previously-working Palm, and am wondering if my cradle went bad in the last couple weeks. When I plug/unplug the cradle, I don't see any USB event notifications in /var/log/messages - this seems suspicious to me, but I don't remember if I ever saw notifications for it before. Also, neither "usbserial" nor "visor" are listed in /proc/bus/usb/drivers, even though the modules are loaded. Nor do I see any mention of the cradle in /proc/bus/usb/devices. If you've got a working USB PDA cradle, could you let me know if you see any of the things mentioned above? That would pretty much confirm that I've got a problem with the cradle and not the software or kernel.
