Need info: DVD+R vs. DVD-R ???

I really don't know the difference between DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW. Is there any section on anandtech that explains each thoroughly? I want to know which can play in home DVD players, which can't? Which is used for data, which is used for audio, etc.?
 
All or none may play in your home player. Every brand and model is different. Many will play all formats and the newer the model, the greater the chance they will all work.
