need info about I-95 (tolls) around NYC

Hey, my friend is driving from boston to philadelphia to drive me back to school, and the directions say to just take 95 straight down, my question is, does I-95 run right through nyc? Like, will there be any large tolls to run through nyc via i-95 south? I don't remember if there were any, I know there are if you go into the city, but I doubt he will have to do that

I drive the last stretch from Langhorne-Philly of I-95 every day on the way to work. No tolls. I believe there may be some in NJ though...I do believe it goes around NYC, not through it, which should avoid alot of potential tolling...not positive though.

ah ok, yeah I know that there's a toll to get into PA from NJ (like $2 or something), just wanted to make sure there aren't any $5 tolls around nyc, otherwise I would either tell my friend to drive a different route or to just expect to pay some expensive tolls

I95 does not go straight through NYC so you won't have any tolls to deal w/, hope this helps Burnt 🙂

i don't recall their ever being tolls on i-95.... but then again i've never taken it out of the state

Yes, I95 goes through NYC.
There is toll about 10 to 15 miles north of NYC. There is also the George Washington Bridge toll, NJ turnpike toll, and a toll for the bridge you will take to get in to Philly.

huh? Bridge to get into Philly? There is only such bridge if you are coming from the south. I drive down I95 from the north to get into philly, it merges right into 676, which has exits all over the city. No toll there.

The tolls going that route can get quite expensive. MIght do better taking I-84 (I think thats the one that runs along southern NY) to I-81. Will be a bit longer, but can save you a bit in tolls.

I don't know the exact bit as I don't go on that side of NYC much, but I know the tolls are there.
