Buddy of mine needs to install a couple of these to watch the parking lot and back hallways of a business he owns. Budget is also very tight (I'm setting it up for beer), and I'd like to keep the price as close to $100 as possible. In the past I've used the TrendNet IP 100s because they seem to have a decent sensor and are reasonably hardly. If there's any other reccomendations (Dlink?) though I'll happily take advice.
What we need:
Decent low light calability. I don't need night vision, but it needs to handle a lit parking lot.
Decent and reliable hand free recording capabilities so that when we do record a problem we can play it back for police on a PC the next day without needing an engineer.
Wide angle is more important than tele.
What we don't need:
Wi-Fi - going to be hard wired.
Internet capability (on LAN)
All weather (will be indoors)
Sound.
X-Y remote adjustment would be nice, but not mandatory.
