My Computer Specification:

Operating System - Windows XP

Processor - Pentium 4, 1.8A

Motherboard - ASUS P4S333 (SIS 845D)

Video Card - Visiontek GEforce 4200

Memory - 512 MB PC 2700 DDR RAM (Samsung )

Hard Drive - Maxtor 80G 7200RPM ATA

This Saturday, when I was playing Warcraft 3, the game froze for a few seconds and started running again. Half hour later, the game froze again and I had to reset power. The computer won't boot and the bios lost the hard drive. I had the motherboard detect the hard drive, but still won't boot and I could hear some sound from the hard drive (this is a 40G maxtor 7200 RPM). After few attempts the bios could not find the hard drive at all. So I went and bought a new hard drive (80G) and loaded windows and the computer started working without any problem the whole day and night I did the updates and downloads and Sunday morning after a download for my scanner, the computer won't even boot the post up.

The computer stops at the bios screen which prompts me to press Del to go to the set up menu. When you press Del, it takes approximately 3 minutes to go to the set up menu. Once in the set up menu, I can navigate the menu without any problem. The motherboard monitor tells me that the V core is wrong, even though it shows 1.5V, The temperature and all other things are fine. Nothing is overclocked. I tried some low voltage but still it would not go below 1.5/1.48V. After saving the setting, I tried again and the system hangs up before post up.

This morning I started my computer and it did hung up before post up. After three minutes of pressing Del, I got the set up menu and got a warning at the CPU speed set that the speed was set incorrectly during the last boot up, even though it was 1.8 all the time. The Voltage was 1.5V but did not give any warning that the voltage is wrong. Again I saved the setting and the computer started re-booting and hung up before posting for several minutes and then suddenly started posting and once it finished posting, windows loaded normally and everything is working.

It has been eight hours and I don't see a problem. But I am scared to shut my computer OFF.

My question is what could be wrong with my computer? Is it the motherboard or the processor which is causing the trouble.

Please help
