Need ideas!!!

For an english assignment, I have to create a Problem/Solution paper, and right now I'm trying to gather some ideas for my "problem."

I'm really not a creative guy, and I don't know exactly whats going on in the world currently.

Anyone know of some problems that are affecting our country or the world? (ok, maybe even in your own town)

Also, it would be nice if other people had tried fixing the problem before as well.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Well I'm asking for ideas. I'd like to have something interesting, and its not like i'm not googling whatever I can right now. I just dont want something bland like abortion...

solution: bomb iranian nuclear facilities to stop them

Problem : gas prices are high

Solution : mass transportation, bicycle friendly roads, gas prices based on vehicle MPG etc....
