Need Ideas: project for digital systems class.

Martin

Lifer
Its a 2nd year ECE course. We learned combinational logic, registers, adders, counters and state machines.

I need to come up with some project, but I have not clue what to do, so perhaps you guys would have some ideas.

I needs to be reasonably big (equivalent of at least 3 normal labs) include some type of finite state machine and can use a VGA output chip if needed.

The best I could come up with is PONG....but I dunno.

well, the one I have tomorrow is this:
1. build a simple sequence recognizer using block diagrams
2. build a different simple sequence recognizer, this time in Verilog
3. build a simple handshake protocol in verilog.

previous labs included making functions for 7 segment displays and making different kinds of registers.
