I'm tagging along with my wife on her business trip to SF, so were going to stay a couple of extra days and explore. She wants to go on a wine tasting/vinard tour, I'd like to go see Alcatraz.

Any other ideas?

What are some good informal resturants?

Meir (Mear?) Woods is a nice redwood stand north of the Golden Gate. Meir Beach, just down the hill from Meir Woods is a nice pocket beach.
 
go to Pier 39, eat some chowder in a bread bowl, bark at the seals. Everyone does it, but it's fun and should take up an afternoon 😉

go to the metreon and be underwhelmed by its shopping center and really lame arcade. go watch the imax..or movie there..well imax since u can movie anywhere😛

ugh..china town. the bridge..goldengate park.. george lucas's new headquarters/compound has a visitors area i think.
