I run an xp2100+ stock speed in a chieftec case w/ 1 intake, 1 exhaust, and 1 side panel intake. Right now I'm using a volcano 9 from 3000-3500 RPMs but I'm not too satisfied, that and the fan speed adjustment knob broke. The room I'm in is far from ideal, stuffy in the spot I have my CPU. Since I use the temperature sensor stuck inside the fans of my heatsink, my CPU is a consistant ~50C temp and system is ~32C (been a bit higher due to NY heat wave).

I just remounted the unit with a little more AS3 but it didn't change the temps too much.

So I've got 2 choices: 1) Buy a new smartfan II to replace the one in my HSF unit so I can crank up the speed or 2) buy a brand new HSF unit, the latter seems more appealing.

If you didn't want to read that, just give me advice on a good HSF that's fairly quiet (about the same noise level as running a smart fan II at ~3500 RPMS) and will keep my CPU under 50C.

edit-
Someone mentioned the Vantec Aeroflow and I've been looking at the Volcano 11+. Any opinions?

First of all, on most motherboards, temps in the 50's aren't necessarily cause for alarm. I've had boards that run 60C as a "normal" temperature. It's all in the way they estimate the temperature.

Thermalright's SLK-800 is a top-shelf cooler that takes 80mm fans, and I'd get a YS Tech 80mm adjustable-rpm fan to go with that. Its max flowrate is lower than a TT Smart Fan II, but it also draws about half the power while still managing a very healthy ~50cfm at full throttle.

You're right, but yesterday in the 95 degree weather my had CPU hit 60C. I only checked the temperature because my computer froze for 10 seconds beforehand (something it had never done before).
