Ok, so I'm getting ready to buy my first house, and have a question about house types.
I was wondering, is it better to get a smaller house with alot of extras built in, or get a slightly bigger house with less options. Basically, my limit is around 140,000 (I dont feel comfortable getting much more). I can get a bigger house starting at 134, then a few options up to 140, or get the next smaller house (Its in a subdivision, new construction) and get more options and end up in the same price range, with less square footage and more options.
So, what do you guys think? I kinda think maybe the bigger, less optioned house as I can do some of the stuff later on myself.
Any thoughts or ideas? What would you do if you were me? Big n bare or small n loaded?

I had a home built 4 years ago, this is what I did.

I purchased the larger(more $$$) 2 story with absolutely the minimum upgrades.
The builder really makes $$ when you pay to upgrade. If you go out and pricematch what they're going to charge you to what it will cost you to do it yourself you may be shocked at the differences.

Things I couldn't do myself or way to pain in the @ss I paid for, like: upgraded the padding and carpet and kitchen cabinets.

I put pergo wood flooring in (a joke)(the kitchen came with vinyl, dinning room carpet), tiled the bathrooms(vinyl), built a deck (home came with a patio), put up my own fence, put molding up where I wanted it(was a joke to do), painted every room myself, my own garage door opener, my own jacuzzi bathroom tub(for her, not me),..................

Took some time on days off but I am happy with how everything turned out and we are very happy with our home.

Now 4 years later I would say I have the nicest home in the neighborhood and I paid alot less than my neighbors did ->and it looks better than theirs.

My 2 cents
Anyways goodluck :)
