Hey guys, I'm in a little bit of a dilemna here. I really hope someone can help me out! :)

Anyway, I'm having a little trouble figuring out exactly how or what I should use to get my set up going with what I have. Here's a run-down of the components:

TV (AKA Monitor): This is just a RCA Television with one single Coax F type input. No composite RCA aud/video inputs.

Receiver: Sort of an older (but not much, I'd put it at about 5 years old-ish) receiver. This one has got inputs for 2 different video streams, as well as about 4 sets of audio inputs. It has one main video out. It then has a set of separate outputs for video and audio for the main video source (in this case, it's VCR 1). So basically (since we won't be running the DVD to two different sources) there is only one video out, and 2 video inputs. These are all RCA-style composite connections.

DVD: Panasonic DVD player that has two sets of RCA-based video outputs for both video and audio (Vid 1, Vid 2 outs, Audio L/R 1 and Audio L/R 2 outs). Also I think there is an optical audio out and a digital RCA-type audio out, but none of my other components include this.

Well, here's the dilemna: How can I get video from the cable service, plus video from the DVD to the television? Well, basically the cable service is easy-cheese, but I don't know if it can work to get the DVD video with a television with only a coax F input?

Right now, I have the cable service coming in the video in on the receiver for one of the 2 video in's. The DVD player is plugged into the other RCA in on the receiver. Then I have the one video out from the receiver going to the TV with an RCA to F adapter.

Well, I can't get video, but I'm still getting television.

Anyone know how I can get a contemporary DVD player to work with a television that only has an F screw type connector on the back? This isn't an old TV, but it appears to be a commercial-line type of TV, and that's why it only has this one connector.

Any way to sell the TV and buy one with video-in? This will also prevent Macrovision (DVD analog copy-protection) problems from running your DVD through your VCR. You could get a RF converter box from Radio Shack but the $40(?) would be much better spent towards getting a newer TV.

Sell blood and/or become a man-whore and you'll have that TV money in no time! ;)

Hmmm, actually this looks like it might work, but then I'd be spending more money, which is something that I don't really want to do .. ;)

But, this device (since apparently it has L/R Audio in plus Video in, PLUS F connector in (from cable, antenna, etc.), then just the one F connector coax out to TV. More money though! :(

Ehh, well, I'll see what's going on tomorrow :)

Well if you're broke, then manually plugging / unplugging the VCR-in into the DVD, cable as needed will work. :p

Well, again one issue is this: I can have the DVD player plugged directly into the television using an adapter and I still get no video. Is there any certain channel that I need to put the television on since I am plugging the DVD's RCA directly into the coax connection of the television?

For some wild reason I think I should be getting video but I'm not ...

Out of boredom I bring you this:

TADA!

:p

Anyway, this is how I have it set up right now. Will it not work just running the video out to the television and attach it using an adapter?

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to get one of those modular boxes, then it would actually be really easy. DVD and everything into modulator, modulator into TV, channel 3 or 4 depending on what I set the mod.'s output for.

What I can't understand is why I can't get DVD video on the TV when plugging straight from the DVD into the TV...
