OK in my quest for Geekdom I purchased Cable connection to get lower pings on games and for overall surfing. Heres my problem everyday around 5pm to 12Midnight EST My pings on most servers goes up to 400 to 1000ms when normally I get 40 to 150ms. I did a tracert to a few of the problem IPs and I find that a particular router that I go through to get there is causing all of my lag! At this one point I pickup 350 to 900ms in latency. It is the UUNET NYC4.alter.net router. My ISP (RoadRunner) says they can do nothing because the problem is outside their network. So I pay for a really fast connection to a really crappy server! My question is, is there any way to force my IP route to not take that server. I know there is more than one path because my friend who lives a few miles away goes through the NYC9.alter.net server and his connection to the same game servers I'm trying for is much better. 80 to 150ms.
Thanks for any help!
