Need Help

I have a self inflicted problem that I cannot solve without help.

I have a headless linux system on my network at home. During initial configuration for some reason I used the IP address 192.168.2.255 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0) I meant to use .254 but typo it. As this is a headless system I need to log back into it to change IP but cannot. Does anyone have any ideas how I could log back in?

So far I have tried pluging it directly into laptop. I have changed subnet mask on router as well but of course different subnets and it wont talk. Is it possible to reconfigure network settings temp so I can use 192.168.2.255 ?

If you need more clarification just ask and I will answer as much as I know.

Thank you in advance,

I'm a little surprised it didnt yell at you for trying to put .255 in the initial config with a 255.255.255.0 mask. That's the broadcast address for that subnet.

If you have physical access to the system, you'll need to plug a monitor into it and change it the old fashioned way. The only way to temporarily change the settings to make .255 a valid, connectable address would be to change the subnet mask, which would *also* need to be changed on the linux box, kinda a moot point.
