max settings with no AA it will fluctuate from around 20-60 i'd say for oblivion outside

dark messiah you should be fine (assuming you have a really nice cpu also because source engine is very cpu dependant) but i would say 50-60 fps constant
 
well i should say this

other than the 7950GX2, you won't get any better performance.

you could wait a little bit and see what the Geforce 8800 turns out to be like because by the time Dark Messiah comes out, there should be alot more info on this video card.
 
I know how you feel, but patience is a virtue.

If you really do not want to wait, i'd say go ahead and do it. It was the card i was going to order but for $470 on newegg when they came out i had to go with a $300 7950gt

It really is basically a cool and quiet x1900xtx + 5 fps
