trying to get new puter up and going. Asus bios reads 47 to 49 degrees cpu/ 26 to29
degrees mobo when started, climbs guickly to 53 and 35, seems high. Having trouble
getting raid setup so haven't got any further than bios readings. Plenty of air flowing in
case, doesn't seem to matter. No temp difference in performance mode or optimal. Some
noise difference for sure. Even tried 90 cfm exaust fan, no change. Tried different
thickness of Artic Silver and tried Artic Ceramic, no change. Is this normal temp for the
Pentium 640 heat engine or am I missing something? O'yea, wiring is neet and run for
clear air flow, even used round cables on the sole dvd and floppy.

System: Lian Li PC-V1000B case
Asus P5WD2-E Premium mobo
Pentium 3.2 640
Patriot PC5600 512x2 @ 667, 4-3-3-10 timing
Enermax Liberty 500w
Zalman CNPS9500 cooler
Maxtor Diamondmax 10 200 x 2
Adda 120mm lower intake and exaust fans
Aspire 120mm upper intake/72cfm
Sapphire Radeon 1600xt x 2 video cards

I will probably get my head bit off for this, but Pentium's usually run just a tad bit warmer than other CPU's. Those temps don't' look so bad to me and if you are not having any crashes due to heat you should be OK. It looks though that you have everything you need to keep it as cool as possible. The Zalman CNP9500 was a good choice too, I find their products mostly reliable.

Also, dont' assume that those temp readings are always correct, some people find it varies from PC to PC.
