i have an old computer that will scan c drive and give me windows screen then a wallpaper screen then pasword screen but dont know password.Also a error of comctl3dllfile cant start, when i clike that off and password cancel it gives me error mprexexe caused invalid page with details of kernell 32.dll.Im real smart but trying to learn.

If anyone will help i would app. it

How old is this system, what is it, and what version of Windows are you talking about?
 
It has windows 98 on it .It is a compaq computer,I cant get to bios to find out any thing else, Ive tried the f1 but nothing.When it gets to a wallpaper page it stops.
 
Thanks for the help but tried that too still nothing ,frezing on a wallpaper page and will not let me get to files or anything. no desktop or anything .
 
with compaq pc's you press F10 to access the setup/bios but you have to press F10 whilst the cursor is flashing in the top right corner of the screen (you only have a few seconds to get this right)

however, this just sounds like a very messed up windows installation. I would just reformat/reinstall

 
I have tried f10cant get there.I did get in on f8 tried to restore but gives me himemsys detected unreliable xms memory , xms driver not installed. anyone know how i can get a windows 98 disk so i can reformat
