I've got a home network in which I've 3 computers on it, including mine. The other 2 are my kids' computers. All three are running W2K Pro and of course all are on a router. My question is what do I have to do to be able to control their computers from mine? Is W2K Pro able to do this? What program would I need to do this?

Remote desktop is built into XP, but for 2k you can try any of the flavors of VNC. I like TightVNC. I use it daily to remote into any of our ~3000 workstations.

If you mean like a remote control package, try looking at www.ultravnc.com, it's a very nice free remote console. I use it for customer support for a number of folks, almost as good as being there. 😀 If you add WOL (Wake On LAN) to the machines, you can even turn them on remotely. 😀

okay. But, do I need vnc if they are on my network? The computers are just in the next room but it would be easier for me to do it this way rather than having to go to each computer and do what I need to do. It's really not that big of a deal. I just thought if I could do it from mine, it would be easier.

*edit*: nevermind, I thought vnc was something different. I was thinking vpn. I dl tightvnc and am now checking it out. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
