I was moving from a win98 sytstem to a winME system. I "backed up" everything I thought I would need. I didn't want to just upgrade because I wanted to start fresh with a clean formatted harddrive.

I located the outlook express folder which contained all my mail files:
Inbox.mbx, Sent Items.mbx, etc.

I copied all of these to another harddrive on a diff computer on my home network.

I then gor WinME up ad running on a clean harddrive... when I went to copy the *.mbx files back into my outlook express folder I saw that all the files in the WinME version were all of the *.dbx type.

So I need help as to how I can retrieve all my emails now!!
I am dealing with my old outlook files which are in *.mbx format vs the new WinME outlook files which are in *.idx format.

I am using only Outlook Express.. not the MS Outlook application that comes with the MS Office Suite.

Any help is much appreciated... and I really don't want to have to reformat and reinstall win98!!

Sweetness,
Mer.

You should be able to Import the messages into Outlook Express.

Select

File -> Import - > Messages -> Select "Outlook Express 5" then choose "store directory"
point to the location where you have your old data stored.
It should work for you!
