if anyone knows how to do this using evox, i could really use some help. i am trying to get enough space for a media center and the original 10gb isnt cutting it.

edit: dont tell me to go to xbox-scene.com. that place has a lot of information, but they dont explain in detail how to do the very important steps and they provide no ways of contacting anyone with a clue.

no, because i dont plan on using it to get illegal games, and i already asked about this getting locked. plenty of people have started xbox threads and only a few have been locked. if this one does, well, sh!t, but i hope it doesnt because i dont plan on being a HaXor and stealing software.

So what are you trying to do, use the original 10 gb's or put in a new one? I can't help you here since I'm at work, maybe if the thread isn't locked when I get home and I remember.

i have a 160gb hard drive i am trying to install. i managed to make the evox boot cd and get the FTP setup, but i cant seem to make the new hard drive work. i need to install evox TO the actual new hard drive, but i also want the original files on it as well. when i put the new drive in and turn the modchip OFF, it gives me an error. the original drive works with the mod on and off, and the new drive works with it on, but not off. also, there is supposed to be a menu called launch menu or close to that and i dont have that. i cant figure out how to actually start the media player or copy my dvds to the drive.

If that's the case it sounds like it's just not unlocked or formatted

easiest way is to find slayers 2.5 or xdisk 1.01. Installs, formats and does everything.

You mean locked? I'm pretty sure he dosn't have the original xbox files on there yet so he gets an error when it tries to access the old menu.

Make sure you still have the original ms dashboard on the C partition on the new hd. If its booting into the evox dashboard with the chip on, but doesn't boot into anything with the chip off then most likely you don't have the ms dashboard on the C partition.

Did you transfer the original c and e to the new hd?

man you guys are great...i just have a really hard time following this. i am pretty smart when it comes to this stuff, but for some reason i just cant focus on one particular step and finish this correctly...starting to think i am having some mental issues (no kidding :( )

anyway, i am not sure if i backed everything up properly...what is the failsafe procedure for backing up the original drive? do you really just right click on the drive in the ftp progam and click copy? if it is that easy, then i guess i did it correctly, but it isnt working on the new drive.

one other thing...how do you check to see if it is using the 160gb and not being limited to 10gb? in evox, it showed some crap numbers for available space on each partition, but they were not discernable as HDD size...it was like 355.899.192 and 78.824.222 and C was like 5.822.23

wtf?!

ok, back to work, will check back later

Make sure that your bios has LBA-48 support. For backup you just copy the original c and e off of the xbox hd. After you do a reformat you transfer the backed up c and e to the new xbox hd. Also make sure you use the evox backup option with the original hd so that you can get the key for locking and unlocking the hd.

In the skins that I have use the hd space is in the format xx.xxx.xxx, are you sure that c wasn't like 5.822.23X?

i dont know how to check the bios, but i got the xecutor 2.3b lite+ modchip with the newest bios release, so i am assuming it does.

also, why do i need to lock my new drive? i will never play xbox live, so is it necessary to lock the new one?

If you have the latest xecutor 2 bios then it should be fine.

Sorry thought you were going to play xbox live, ya if you arent going to play live then you don't need to lock.

Don't put an extra hdd in your xbox. It's USELESS unless you're going to copy games.

Instead, install the newest media center and use the networking options and use your computer as a server for the network.

Let's not forget that EvoX is illegal to download or use in compiled form since it was compiled with the official MS Xbox SDK.

tsk tsk tsk

Good luck getting it working though!
