OK, I bought a new computer but I am going to use the hd from my current one. Now after reading alot of articles in the forums here, I see that I need to do a clean install with this hd. Problem is I dont know how to boot straight to a DOS prompt with XP. Could someone tell me?? Could someone tell me?? Also is re-formatting your hd work in XP the same way as it does with Win 98?? Thanks

Simply place the winXP cd in your cdrom and set the Bios to have your cdrom as the primary boot device.

Basically, yes. XP will offer you the chance to delete your current partition, then next offer to quick format in ntfs, fat, regular format in ntfs,or regular format in fat. After that it will want to reboot, then start to load the os.
