need help with windows on HD

hey guys
i have a sony vaio computer that has xp Home on it, it started crapping up really badly suddenly, freezing and screwing up, so i wasnted to upgrade it to professional , in the process of upgrading something retarded happend, and keeps on happening when i try to upgrade it, the only option i have now is to clean install, well i got the hard drive to my other computer so i can get my pictures off of, the thing is the pics are under my username,and when i click on it , it says access is denied, anyway i can get through ? like can i put my password in or what ??, plus my pictures were on the desktop on like 5 folder
any help would be appreciated

You need to take NTFS Ownership of the folder. To do that, right-click the folder and choose Properties > Security and then click the Advanced button. A new panel appears. Click the Ownership tab and then assign Ownership to the account you're using now.

To do this in WinXP Pro, either disable Simple File Sharing (Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab > scroll way down) or boot in Safe Mode. To do this in WinXP Home, boot in Safe Mode. Win2000 is ok as-is.
