so far i have tried wingate, sygate and the built-in ICS that comes with SE, and i liked the last by far. is there a way to add this capability to the win98 first edition? the one i am currently using as the client has 98 first edition on it, but using the this setup for about a week it would make much more sense to make it the server instead. and i cant find the damned SE disk

Adding that functionality to FE would make it SE, would it not?

Just purchase a router and be happy. :)

I don't see how you're going to add ICS to a 98FE install without the SE disk, unless you have the .cab files stored on the 98SE computer, in which case you wouldn't need the install CD, but you would probably need to reinstall the OS.

Nothing wrong with Sygate.

nothing wrong with sygate, but i am background-app-phobic, so i feel a strong urge to use what comes with windoze :) the reason i cant get SE on the now the server machine is i need it to be korean windows for my diabolic purposes and i just cant seem to get a hold of korean 98SE.. i just wanted to be 100% sure there was no way out without resorting to sygate. thx!

alright, i somehow managed to fix it by running only the server app of sygate (which is what i really wanted to achieve in the first place), but somehow network neighborhood aint working... is it possible ICS could incidentally disable microsoft networks file sharing from the client side? i could acess files fine from the server side, very bewildered.
