I'm been trying to install win2k on a ibm T20 thinkpad. My win2k cd is nonbootable.
So what I did was I made the 4 floppy disk that is use to install win2k. I can only use either the floppy or the cd rom, cant have both on at the same time. So the problem is after I load the 4 floppy disk up, I took out the floopy drive and put in the cd rom, but win2k installer doesnt detect the change and does not allow me to begin the install. Anyone have any suggestion on what I can do. Thanks!

what's on the laptop now? a working operating system? if so, you can copy over the i386 directory from the win2k cd-rom and then boot off those floppys....and at that point install off what you copied to the hard drive. also, i believe you might be able to simply run with win2k cd from windows and format right from it that way.

are either of these a possibility?

There is no OS in it right now. I think the only thing I can do is to make a bootable win2k cd. I'll look into that.

If you use a W98SE boot floppy to put DOS (incl. himem.sys) and CD drivers on C: you shouldn't need a bootable CD or floppies.
