i have 3 partitions in my 40gb hard disk....C,D and E. earlier...i copied a few AVIs to D and it took up about 1.2 gig....i later move them to C ...it means i should have regain that 1.2 gig of space in D...but no...the file was gone (to C) but the space was not recovered...
but i checked...the AVIs are indeed in C and not in D anymore...
i did scan disk but nothing happen...the missing 1.2 gig is not there....
pls help !!! 🙁

Enable "View Hidden Files" in Folder Options. I've moved things before and the space was still taken up. Windows 2000 had made a hidden file that was named something funky (maybe a backup of what was copied?). The file was a little bigger then the files I had copied so I assume it was it. If you can find something similar then you might want to try renaming it or moving it to make sure it's not something Windows 2000 needs 🙂 If it doesn't ask for it after a few days - it's proabably safe to delete.

That's what I did at least. It may or may not have been the problem but I got my 800MB back!

[edit]By the way I have seen Windows 2000 make hidden Recycle Bins in the root directory of a drive before! You might want to check for that too.[/edit]
