Need help with VPN

Need help setting up a vpn between two windows 7 machines and an AT&T 2wire router.

I set it up with one end (server) for incoming vpn connections, and the opposing end as vpn over internet. I forwarded the PPTP, & SSTP ports in the 2wire router. When i try to "tunnel in" i get an error 800 unable to connect, or another error about IPSec 50/51.

If anyone could help. I only ever have issues when setting up 2wire crap.

Have you tested the VPN from INSIDE your network to make sure that part is working?

i tested it from a laptop in the same network, and this how i got the errors.

If you are getting errors from inside your own network, then the 2Wire isn't causing them. For testing purposes, try disabling ALL software firewalls on the PC that's hosting the VPN.

Doesn't the router have to support GRE passthrough?

I did that on the computer configured as server, and the router (just because). same issue.

Doesn't the router have to support GRE passthrough?

I read that somewhere too. 2wire firmware update maybe?
