So I just found an old HD 160gig really not that old dunno why its been sitting in desk for so long so i decided to try it out....bios sees it awesome right? Also beep alarm is going off and i am not sure why temps seems good everything pluged in so i turned off the alarm in the bios anyways

Well no i get into XP to see whats on it and such figure out what i want to do with it. Notice it has a install of windows on a 10gig part and the rest on a part. I go to format them and the computer shuts down. I was ok whats up with that. I try again in XP and it shutdown again (not just lock up or anything literally shuts down) like i am having a over heating problem.

Anyways after a few more trys i boot into vista and boom we are good i format us the drive works great and i try xp again same deal. I am not sure what is going on or what is up with that alarm... what should i do?

Athlon 64 3500
Abit AN8 SLI fat
AtI 850 xt pe

UPDATE 1: I check the temps in XP for the 45seconds i get and they all seems good

UPDATE 2: I unhooked new HD and tryed XP still same error ... I will be gone for the weekend so i cannot repsond but please leave some tips :) be back monday

ok turning off the beep alarm was a bad idea lol who would have thought. Anyways i found the issue it was the connector molex for the video power

I figured it was a power/video issue but wow the freaking connecter pin got pushed out and ruined the cable somehow even after "repair" so i mad a new wire and we are running good

When i got home i really slowed down and went step by step that was really the only way to find this issue

hey how about them gators :)
