need help with video capture- something is wrong

I have used virtual dub to capture things on tv with my tv pci card before and had no problems. Now when I try to do it the framerate is horrible. I get the same result with home movies. What could the problem be? Here are my specs:

windows me
duron 600 @ 1ghz
128 mb 222 pc 133 ram
IBM deskstar 45 gig HD
voodoo 5 5500
Pinnacle Studio PCI TV card
