need help with upgrading 8k3a+ to 8rda+

I am running win2k pro, I have been using an Epox 8k3a+ via chipset, and XP 2000. I would like to upgrade to an 8rda+, Nforce2 chipset and a XP 2600.
What would be the best way to do this with out having to reload windows. I tried just installing the new cpu and the board, but it won't boot. Win keeps giving me a stop error "can't find a bootable drive".
Both boards and processors are good, but I think my basic drivers VIA versus nforce are screwing it up.
any advice??
