Need help with unruly Tuniq Tower fan

Build:
eVGA 680i
Tuniq Tower 120 w/ stock fan

Currently, I'm unable to control the fan with anything but the rheostat knob.
With the fan plugged into the MB only (via the 3pin connection), the fan will run at MAX RPM and nothing less.

I've searched for the PWM features of the Tuniq but have found very little info.

Hrm...

Never tried it. I love that little rheobus controller - thought it was gonna be a POS 'cause it was *free*, but was pleasantly surprised... 🙂

Anyway, PWM fans are a breed apart. I highly doubt any cooler vendor is gonna throw one in for *free*.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...

If you want to do this, I would suggest looking around for a fan that supports PWM.

As I said, I've never tried this, so don't take it as gospel... 😀

I may be wrong but arent 4 pin connectors the ones that have motherboard control and 3 pin just reports rpm and power?

If it's plugged into your motherboard, you can usually control it through the BIOS features (read your manual) or by software like Speedfan. Google it.

Neither speedfan nor MB are able to control the fan speed - again knob only.

Every other 3pin case fan in my system is controllable via speedfan/mb.

Your problem is you are trying to control a non-pwm fan with PWM and you need to be controlling it with undervoltage. CPU slots on Intel boards by default use PWM with the rest being voltage controlled.

My P5B Deluxe/Wi-Fi lets me choose whether to use PWM or Voltage control on my cpu fan in the bios. However if yours only lets you do PWM them you either cant do anything about it or can only use the controller that comes with the Tuniq.

Yeah, krotchy has got it. You might need to use a different fan header (given your board doesn't need a fan plugged into the CPU fan header) and use that fan control.
