I have a Big tv that is HDTV compatible... and right now without a HDTV decoder will run 480 progressiv scan...

My comps have two video cards 9800 and 6800 both with VGA and DVI output...

If I were to buy
1. DVI-I Male to 3 RCA component Adapter w/ DIP Switch for ATI Video Cards
or
2. DVI-I to 3 RCA component cable

would I be able to display my comp at 480p?

is 480p similar to 640x480 as the setting I would set my video card to?

Your TV can't do anything higher than 480p? That's a shame. :(

For the 9800, you can buy #1 ... I'm not sure about the 6800 though.

And yes, you can feed it 640x480 - that'll be a 4:3 ratio 480p picture. If you can tweak out a 852x480 or 854x480 signal, that'll be 16:9.

If it doesn't show up as an available resolution in Windows, or under Advanced - Display - Show All Modes, you can use a 3rd-party tool like PowerStrip to add it.

Posting in the Video forum with more details would probably get a better response. :)
