Need help with the onboard Firewire.

Hello all,
thanks in advance.
I have Dfi Lanparty UT 250Gb that came with 2 onboard firewires one in the back on i/o panel and the other one can be connected to the front of the case. I am running XP with SP 2 and in the BIOS the IEEE 1394 is enabled and the chipset drivers that came with the motherboard are all installed including the one for the IEEE1394. But for some reason when I connect my mini DV camcorder to either of these ports it does not recognize the camera. It doesn't recognize if I do it manually either.
What do you guys think it can be? I am thinking of flashing the BIOS for newer version but I don't think it has anything to do with the firewire.
Well, any input is very appriciated.

Thank You

I know this may sound simple, but have you checked to see if the cables are connected to the mobo. This might not be the case, but once I was transporting my system and one of my usb cables came undone. This led to all kinds of problems.
