Hi,
I have been trying to backup system files via Win Xp's backup utiltity using the ASR tab. I am trying to copy it to a Samsung 348 DVD Rom/CDRW. When I do this I get (D:\Backup.bkf) The backup file name could not be used. The cdrw seems to be fine coping disc when using Roxio Easy CD Creator (Basic) with latest Roxio update and other DVD, cdrom functions also are ok. Can anyone tell me what i am doing wong?
What i am looking for is if in the event of a crash a way to recover the system. Not worried about other files at this point. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I figured out that I needed to format the cd-r. Now it is copying the files to it.
If any of you know a better way to back up for a crash restore please let me know. Thanks.

Personally, Norton Ghost is my favorite.

2003 lets you back up to DVD, CD, over a network or just another drive. As well as restore the exact image via bootable cd-rom.
2002 does all the above, minus DVD.
