I have a friend that needed to reinstall windows. he had no sound from his soundblaster live after adding a nic card. We had problems with the partition tables but you guys suggested doing a fdisk/mbr. It worked! Now a new problem. Windows me is loaded but he gets a blue screen whenever he tries to play a wave file. His sound does not work either. What do you guys think this could be. I know on my windows me system that the soundblaster live drivers work fine. He even reinstalled windows and got the same thing. He has the soundblaster on a IRQ that only has the pci steering for usb on it. thanks

Try Disabling sblive emulation in device manager/ Newest driver help too, Also, there is an option to share irq for the emulation with lpt1, you may wanna try that instead.

can he move the card to another slot? sb live doesn't like to share its irq period except with pci steering! may be the cause of his problem.

I had the same error messages when I upgraded my cpu from a P3 450 to a P3 750(both slot 1).There is a known problem with soundblaster live cards using old drivers and fast cpu's. A registry fix is available,or I think the lastest drivers also fix the problem. I used the registry fix =).

"To rectify the problem, a value needs to be entered into the Windows Registry: HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Creative Tech\DeviceInfo\PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0002\MMX=?1? "

The above info taken from here.
