Need Help with some Images. Any photoshoppers out there?

I scanned some B&W images from a book but they came out with a dot matrix effect on them. Here are the images. Does anyone know how to remove this while still keeping the image clear?

There should be a setting in your scanning software to eliminate this problem.
What causes it is that when the orginal photos were scanned they were not scanned at right angles but at some weird angle that is caused by the photo being on a rotating drum when scanned resulting on a off angle scan.

Ok, that makes sense...hmmm, it was hard to scan the image (from a book) because the book wasn't very flexible. I'll try again and see if that corrects the problem.

I got pretty much the same thing. Use PS and blur/sharpen till it goes away. There's another way to do it, lemme see if I can find it.

BTW effect is from low DPI, same as if you're scanning from magazine or newspaper.

Some easy ways to improve image quality:

Some higher-end scanners have a hardware-assisted "descreening" feature that can help with this problem. Lower-end scanners sometimes have a software-based "descreening" feature that can help, but typically doesn't work as well.

If rescanning the images is out of the question, you can try Guassian Blur followed by Unsharp Mask.

For better quality results, you can also try my technique.
